If you ever wondered whether helping complete strangers save money and energy was putting you in a better state of mind, you can now rest easy.

Our next event will be at the Zen Center in Central Square, Cambridge, which is sure to put you in a better state of mind by the end of the day.

Saturday, Sept. 10th, from 8:30 am (bright and early) until 1 pm, you can help the Cambridge Zen Center lower its energy bill while you learn about energy efficiency and maybe a bit about Buddhism. Every hour a bell will ring to remind us to be mindful for a moment, while we help steward the planet.

1000 watt light bulbs!?!

June 25 Barnraising

Join us Saturday, June 25th from 12:30 to 5 pm at

St. Bartholomew's Church, 239 Harvard St.

There will be lots of great skills to learn including caulking, replacing
bulbs, lowering water bills with faucet aerators and toilet banks,
correctly program a thermostat and more.

It is also a great opportunity to see something you may never have
witnessed before: 1,000 watt light bulbs. That's not a decimal error,
these bulbs use 1,000 watts.

Find out how adding insulation helped this church reduce its heating bill by $8,000 per year.

Maynard-Acton Green Drinks

Every month people who work in the environmental field meet up at informal sessions known as Green Drinks.

We have a lively mixture of people from NGOs, academia, government and business. Come along and you'll be made welcome. Just say, "are you green?" and we will look after you and introduce you to whoever is there. It's a great way of catching up with people you know and also for making new contacts. Everyone invites someone else along, so there’s always a different crowd, making Green Drinks an organic, self-organising network.

These events are very simple and unstructured, but many people have found employment, made friends, developed new ideas, done deals and had moments of serendipity. It's a force for the good and we'd like to help it spread to other cities. Contact your local node to get the latest info about coming along.
